EFCA Statement of Faith
During the past year, the EFCA has passed a restructured Statement of Faith for the denomination (see the attachment). The changes have been adopted by the Northern Plains District. We as a church have discussed these changes in the past. The Elders of the Church have not discovered any reason that we should object to remaining with the Denomination. Therefore, we believe our church should also adopt the new Statement of Faith. However, our church constitution included the original 12 statements in Article II. To make this change, we must also modify Article V. Therefore, we suggest the following changes to the Constitution & Bylaws for First Evangelical Free Church:
Article II: Confession of Faith shall read:
The Confession of Faith of this organization shall be the same as that of the Northern Plains District Association and the Evangelical Free Church of America.
The 12 statements previously published in the Constitution will be struck.
Article V: Amendments shall read
Any amendment to this Constitution shall require 75% of the quorum in favor of the motion.
This Constitution was adopted by the Congregation April 25, 1995.
Amended April xx, 2010
We are removing the statement, “The Articles of this Constitution are irrevocable and unalterable.”. It seems it is easier to change Article V then it would be to write and ratify a new constitution.
